Tung Chung Line Extension Project

The proposed Tung Chung Line Extension (TUE) Project comprises:

1. TUE
   The TUE comprises an approximately 1.3 km extension of the existing Tung Chung Line, connecting it to a new station in the Tung Chung West area. Additionally, it involves the construction of a new intermediate Tung Chung East Station, necessitating railway line modifications spanning about 1.2 km between the existing Sunny Bay Station and Tung Chung Station. The primary purpose of the TUE is to provide rail services for the Tung Chung New Town Extension. Construction for the two new stations and associated railway sections commenced in May 2023, with an anticipated completion date of 2029.
2. Hong Kong Station Extended Overrun Tunnel
   The Hong Kong Station Extended Overrun Tunnel includes constructing a tunnel east of Hong Kong Station along Lung Wo Road, and a ventilation cum emergency access building at the east of Yiu Sing Street. The project will enhance train operation efficiency to support the increasing transport demand from the developments in Lantau including Tung Chung New Town Extension.
