Tung Chung Line Extension

The proposed Tung Chung Line Extension (TUE) comprises an approximately 1.3 km extension of the existing Tung Chung Line, connecting it to a new station in the Tung Chung West area. Additionally, it involves the construction of a new intermediate Tung Chung East Station, necessitating railway line modifications spanning about 1.2 km between the existing Sunny Bay Station and Tung Chung Station. The primary purpose of the TUE is to provide rail services for the Tung Chung New Town Extension. Furthermore, this project includes constructing the remaining section of the Airport Railway Extended Overrun Tunnel (AREOT), which spans around 460 metres east of Hong Kong Station. Construction for the two new stations and associated railway sections commenced in May 2023, with an anticipated completion date of 2029. The remaining section of the AREOT is targeted to be completed by 2032.
