           The Highways Department   (HyD) today (February 17) invited tenders for the Central Kowloon   Route - Kai Tak West (Contract No. HY/2014/07).
        
     The works are scheduled to commence in August 2017 and will take about 84 months to complete. The works mainly include:
     
* construction of an approximately 370-metre underwater tunnel and the associated temporary reclamation in Kowloon Bay;
* construction of an approximately 160m cut and cover tunnel in Ma Tau Kok;
* construction of an approximately 125m depressed road and an approximately 170m underpass in the Kai Tak Development;
* construction and subsequent handover of access shaft, temporary   traffic decking and associated noise enclosure in Ma Tau Kok to another   contractor for the construction of the central tunnel section of Central   Kowloon Route;
* reconstruction of Kowloon City Ferry Pier Public Transport Interchange;
* demolition and removal of the existing landside portion of the existing disused Kowloon City Vehicular Ferry Pier;
* demolition and subsequent reprovisioning of Ma Tau Kok Public Pier; and
* associated drainage and sewerage, waterworks and landscaping works. 
     The HyD has appointed Arup - Mott MacDonald Joint Venture as the   consultant to design and supervise the construction works. Interested   contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from   Arup - Mott MacDonald Joint Venture at Level 5 Festival Walk, 80 Tat   Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.
     The invitation to tender was gazetted today. Submission of tenders   will close at noon on May 12, 2017 (Friday). Tender submissions should   be placed in the Government Logistics Department Tender Box located at   G/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong   Kong.
