Shatin to Central Link
The Shatin to Central Link (SCL) is a 17 kilometres long railway project with two sections. The 11 kilometres long Tai Wai to Hung Hom section, which runs through Diamond Hill to Kowloon East, will link up the Ma On Shan Line and the West Rail Line at each end, forming the East West Corridor. The 6 kilometres long Hung Hom to Admiralty section will join the East Rail Line at Hung Hom forming the North South Corridor. The construction works commenced in July 2012. According to the Final Report on Holistic Assessment Strategy for the Hung Hom Station Extension, MTRCL is going to implement a series of works and measures at and near the Hung Hom Station in order to satisfy the relevant codes of practice and contract requirements. Taking into account the testing and trial run upon completion of the abovementioned works and measures, the “Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section” can only be fully commissioned before the end of 2021, while the commissioning date of “Hung Hom to Admiralty Section” is still under review. To allow the public to enjoy the benefits of the new railway soonest, the “Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section” was partially commissioned on 14 February 2020 involving three new stations, namely Hin Keng Station, Diamond Hill Station Extension and Kai Tak Station. The section from Wu Kai Sha Station to Kai Tak Station is now officially named as Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 . We will continue to coordinate and oversee the construction of the Shatin to Central Link, with a view to commissioning the project as soon as possible.
