Integrating Places, Connecting People

「融通」⼀詞作為路政署四十周年相集標題，寓意香港道路與鐵路彼此相互聯繫，相互補足，形成互聯互通的交通運輸 網絡，當中鐵路如⾻幹，道路如筋腱，兩者融為⼀體，缺⼀不可，正好象徵路政署四十年來持續推動香港交通基建網 絡四通⼋達、暢行無阻的努⼒與成果。 在推展各項工程時，路政署秉承「融通」精神，透過諮詢公眾，收集和融合各持份者的不同意⾒，凝聚共識。剛 落成的中九龍繞道（油麻地段）正是其中⼀項藉社區溝通調和⽭盾，政府與市民攜手成就的交通基建項⽬。 「融通」亦延續路政署於三十周年時出版題為《連繫》的書籍，體現「先連繫、後融通」的發展進程。隨着近 年廣深港高速鐵路香港段、港珠澳⼤橋、屯⾨⾄⾚鱲⾓連接路等基建項目相繼啟用，使香港更緊密地融⼊粵 港澳⼤灣區。同時，已啟⽤的中環及灣仔繞道、屯馬線和東鐵線過海段，以及剛落成的中九龍繞道（油麻地 段）等交通基建項⽬，配合各區出⾏設施的落成，使香港交通網絡更完善，讓市民往來各地更便利。「融通」 寓意道路與鐵路連繫大眾，融合各區，通達各地；讓香港路通、⼈通、財通。 “Integrating Places, Connecting People”, being the title of this photo album celebrating the Highways Department’s 40th anniversary, symbolises the connection and complementarity between Hong Kong’s roads and railways. Railways serve as the backbone and roads function as the tendons in a transport system; together, they are integrated and indispensable. The title commemorates the Highways Department’s efforts and achievements over the past four decades of shaping a smooth and extensive transport infrastructure in Hong Kong. The spirit of “Integrating Places, Connecting People” has readily been revealed when the Highways Department delivers projects across all scales. Through extensive public consultation, the Highways Department gathers and synthesises stakeholders’ diverse views to reach consensus. The recently commissioned Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei Section) is one of such transport infrastructure projects that was successfully brought into service through community engagement and concerted efforts between the Department and the society. The title of this photo album “Integrating Places, Connecting People” also carries forward the title of the book “Bringing People Together” which commemorated the Highways Department’s 30th anniversary, in the way that we first gather together, then we integrate and connect. Following the commissioning of major infrastructures, including the Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong Express Rail Link, the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge and the Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link, Hong Kong has integrated tightly into the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area. In the meantime, the commissioned Central – Wan Chai Bypass, the Tuen Ma Line, the East Rail Line Cross-harbour Extension, and the newly opened Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei Section), coupled with completion of various district-level facilities, have further enhanced Hong Kong’s transport network and made our people’s journeys smooth and convenient. “Integrating Places, Connecting People” signifies that roads and railways connect people, unite areas and reach out all destinations, establishing a seamless network for the flow of traffic, talents and capital in Hong Kong. 序 Prologue Prologue 3 序
