West Rail Line

West Rail Line, when it was opened in December 2003, connected West Kowloon with Tuen Mun. It was about 30.5 km long between the 2 terminal stations at Nam Cheong and Tuen Mun with 7 intermediate stations; namely Mei Foo, Tsuen Wan West, Kam Sheung Road, Yuen Long, Long Ping, Tin Shui Wai and Siu Hong. Upon the opening of Austin in August 2009, West Rail Line extends to include Austin and East Tsim Sha Tsui to make up 9 intermediate stations and terminates at Hung Hom. Nam Cheong is the interchange station with Tung Chung Line. Mei Foo is the interchange station with Tsuen Wan Line. West Rail Line also has interchanges with Light Rail at Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, Siu Hong and Tuen Mun. The total length of the West Rail Line is now about 36 km between the 2 terminal stations Tuen Mun and Hung Hom, which is also the interchange station with East Rail Line.

West Rail Line carried an average number of daily passengers of around 193,000 in 2007.
