Project Objective :
The project aims to improve the section of Hiram's Highway from Marina Cove to Sai Kung Town, Po Tung Road and the section of Tai Mong Tsai Road to the south of Sha Ha.
Description :
The objectives and scope of the investigation study are:
- Traffic Impact Assessment Stage - To assess the traffic demand along the section of Hiram's Highway from Marina Cove to Sai Kung Town, Po Tung Road and the section of Tai Mong Tsai Road to the south of Sha Ha and the associated traffic facilities;
- Assessment and Selection of Improvements and Form of Construction - To provide a choice of well researched improvements for a highway linking Marina Cove to Sai Kung Town, Po Tung Road and the section of Tai Mong Tsai Road to the south of Sha Ha and to engage the public for preferred improvements.To recommend the preferred improvements taking into account the traffic, engineering, environmental, cultural heritage impacts and public comments ;
- To investigate the project implementation programme taking into account the selected form of improvements and method of construction; and
- Interim Improvement Stage - To propose interim improvement measures to the existing road network.
The project is in the investigation stage. It is scheduled to complete the assessment of various improvement options by early 2011. The proposed alignment will depend on the recommended improvement option and will be firmed up in the Preliminary Design Stage of the project.
