Project Objective :
The widening works are proposed to alleviate the traffic congestion problem on the Fanling Highway.
Description :
- Widening of a section of Fanling Highway of approximately 3 kilometers (km) long between Tai Hang and Wo Hop Shek Interchange from dual three-lane to dual four-lane carriageway;
- Widening of the southbound slip road at Wo Hop Shek Interchange;
- Realignment of a section of Tai Wo Service Road West of approximately 1.2 km long from Tai Hang to Nam Wa Po;
- Realignment of a section of Tai Wo Service Road East of approximately 1 km long from Kiu Tau to Tong Hang Tung;
- Construction of at-grade carriageways, footpaths, cycle tracks, access tracks, footbridges at Tai Hang, Kiu Tau and Ho Ka Yuen, a pedestrian and cycle bridge at Wo Hop Shek, and a vehicular bridge with associated walkway at Kau Lung Hang;
- Permanent closure of sections of the existing at-grade carriageways, footpaths and cycle tracks; permanent closure and demolition of the existing footbridges at Kiu Tau and Ho Ka Yuen, the existing pedestrian and cycle bridge at Wo Hop Shek, the existing Kiu Tau Bridge, and sections of the existing footbridges at Tai Hang and Nam Wa Po;
- Temporary closure and reconstruction / alteration of sections of the existing at-grade carriageways, footpaths, cycle tracks, footbridges, pedestrian and cycle bridge, and vehicular bridges; and
- Ancillary works including drainage, geotechnical and landscaping works; construction of water mains, noise barriers and retaining walls; and installation of fire hydrants, traffic signals, and traffic control and surveillance system.
