Project Objective :
The existing Castle Peak Road between Sham Tseng and Ka Loon Tsuen in Tsuen Wan is sub-standard from a traffic engineering point of view. Apart from enhancing road safety, the road widening is necessary to cope with the increasing traffic demand following completion of planned residential development in Tsuen Wan West and Tuen Mun over the next few years.
Description :
The project includes :-
- widening and realignment of a 3.7km long section of Castle Peak Road between Sham Tseng and Ka Loon Tsuen, Tsuen Wan to a dual two-lane carriageway with 3m wide footpath on both sides;
- construction of five covered footbridges;
- reclamation and associated construction of a 970m long seawall;
- installation of 155m long noise barriers and 520m of partial noise enclosure; and
- associated works on road reconstruction, junction modification, slope stabilization, geotechnical, landscape, lighting and drainage.
