Project Objective :
The proposed Central Kowloon Route (CKR) is to relieve traffic congestion on the existing east-west roads across Central Kowloon.
Description :
The project includes :-
- a 4.7 km dual 3-lane trunk road connecting the West Kowloon reclamation and the proposed Kai Tak Development (formerly known as South East Kowloon Development), including a tunnel of about 3.9km;
- a landscaped deck at the west entrance / exit of the tunnel;
- access roads at the western end of CKR to link with the existing Yau Ma Tei Interchange of the West Kowloon Highway;
- access roads at the eastern end of CKR to link with the future Trunk Road T2 and road network in Kowloon Bay and the proposed Kai Tak Development;
- reprovisioning of Government and community facilities affected by the CKR
- administration and ventilation buildings; and
- associated environmental, geotechnical, landscape, utility, drainage, traffic and electrical and mechanical works.
Current Situation :
The investigation and preliminary design of CKR is substantially completed. The consultancy for detailed design started in June 2011 to further take forward the project.
