Improvement between Area 2 and Sham Tseng, Tsuen Wan
| The existing
Castle Peak Road between Area 2 and Sham Tseng
in Tsuen Wan is sub-standard from a traffic engineering
point of view. Apart from enhancing road safety,
the road widening is necessary to cope with the
increasing traffic demand following completion
of planned residential development in Tsuen Wan
West and Tuen Mun over the next few years. |

The
project includes :-
-
widening
and realignment of a 4.6km long section of
Castle Peak Road between Area 2 and Sham
Tseng, Tsuen Wan to a dual two-lane carriageway
with 3m wide footpath on both sides;
-
construction
of a 300-metre long single lane flyover in
Ting Kau and six covered footbridges;
-
limited
reclamation and associated construction of
310m long seawall;
-
installation
of 430m long partial noise enclosure;
-
provision
of recreational facilities at three affected
beaches; and
-
associated
works on road reconstruction, junction modifications,
slope stabilization, geotechnical, landscape,
lighting and drainage.
