The Victoria Park Road is an important urban trunk road linking Causeway Bay with the Cross Harbour Tunnel, Aberdeen Tunnel and the Central/Wan Chai districts. The existing Causeway Bay Flyover is a single-lane carriageway bringing traffic from the Victoria Park Road to the section of Gloucester Road outside Victoria Park. The Causeway Bay Flyover is the most direct route for traffic from the Cross Harbour Tunnel, Central/Wan Chai districts to approach Causeway Bay, Tai Hang and Happy Valley areas.
The project includes :-
-
the demolition of the existing Causeway Bay Flyover and the adjoining footbridge;
-
the construction of a 210 m long two-lane one way flyover connecting Victoria Park Road eastbound to Gloucester Road southbound;
-
the construction of a covered footbridge spanning across Victoria Park Road;
-
the widening and realignment of a 170 m westbound section of Victoria Park Road to five traffic lanes;
-
the realignment of a 225 m eastbound section of Victoria Park Road; and
-
the associated works including landscaping works.
