This section of Route 8 is an integral part of the whole Route 8 from Chek Lap Kok Airport to Sha Tin. For programming and construction contract arrangement purposes, this section of Route 8 has been divided into three main portions:

(i) Lai Chi Kok Viaduct

(ii) Eagle's Nest Tunnel and Associated Works

(iii) Sha Tin Heights Tunnel and Approaches (Entrusted to CEDD)
